Under fire conditions, high-pressure gas cylinders are prone to burst due to the combined effects of temperature rise and internal pressure increase, accompanied by high-speed depressurization and pressure-wave propagation, which may pose potential hazards to the surrounding environment. To investigate the burst and depressurization characteristics of gas cylinders exposed to fire, a multi-stage analysis framework was developed, consisting of fire-induced flow-field calculation, quasi-steady thermo-mechanical response analysis, burst threshold determination, and post-burst fluid-structure coupling simulation. The burst critical condition was identified using the bisection method, after which a coupled fluid-structure model was employed to simulate the depressurization process, predicting the formation of the rupture opening, the ensuing high-speed jet, and the propagation of pressure waves. The results indicate that burst initiates in the high-temperature weakened region, and the internal pressure rapidly drops within approximately 0.5 ms after rupture, accompanied by a strongly directional high-speed jet. The simulated overpressure peak at 50 cm from the cylinder wall is 149.52 kPa, which is close to the experimental value of 139.15 kPa, demonstrating the validity of the model. These findings provide technical support for fire safety assessment and protective design of high-pressure gas cylinders.
